Disclosure of environmental and
social performance is increasingly becoming part of
good business practice. Companies are being scrutinised
by NGOs, regulators and investors and the production
of stand-alone environmental, social, CSR and sustainability
reports are seen as a fundamental requirement for
all economically significant companies.
Wider trends are also influencing company
disclosure of environmental and social performance
– this is starting to be known as “Convergence/Integrated”
reporting. Forthcoming changes under current Company
Law revision will require companies to conduct a Business
Review where they are required to identify significant
environmental and social issues that may have an impact
upon their business performance.
This is a step forward in the mandatory
disclosure of non-financial perfomance issues and
companies will need to understand that this new legal
requirement will have implications for the way they
manage their business and disclose performance.
Terra works directly with companies
and with experts in corporate disclosure and reporting
to develop innovative approaches to CSR and sustainability
reporting and to translate new legal requirements
into business practice.
