Sustainable Corporate Strategy
Joss Tantram, a Partner at Terra is
leading and developing our Corporate Sustainability
work. Some of his key current and recent activities
are outlined below.
Strategy
Co-authoring the recent WWF-UK
publication To Whose Profit?(ii) - Evolution: Building
Sustainable Corporate Strategy (download
report). The report was developed with input from
Aviva plc, Barclays, BP, BT, Marks and Spencer, Severn
Trent, KPMG and Henley Management School, together
with recognised experts in corporate strategy, investment
and financial analysis.
Terra is working in association with
WWF-International to develop the business case for
sustainability with key global corporate partners.

Management
Input (since 1999) to Aviva plc's
CSR Strategy & Management Development (SMD) group.
Aviva, the UK's largest insurance company, is a leading
light in the development of pragmatic, applied responses
to new practice in Corporate Responsibility. The CSR
SMD group provides critical analysis and input for
Aviva's CSR management and communication.
Terra is working with WWF-International
to develop the organisation’s understanding of the
drivers and benefits of corporate sustainability and
CSR.
Joss Tantram is a member of BSi Publishings
Environment Editorial Advisory Board, a new initiative
to improve BSis knowledge of the current issues
facing environment professionals and to provide uidance
for the development of new environmental, CSR and
sustainability resources.

Standards
Terra represents the Environmental
Industries Commission (EIC) on the British Standards
Institution (BSi) Committee SDS/1, developing
standards for sustainability management. This
committee is building upon the work of the SIGMA
project and intends to develop a British Standard
Guidance Standard for Sustainability

Environment, CSR and Integrated
Reporting
Terra is working with leading
experts producing reports on behalf of FTSE 100 companies
to develop expertise and best practice in CSR reporting
and in the new areas of integrated and OFR reporting.
Joss Tantram has been a member
(since 2000) of the judges on the Association of Chartered
and Certified Accountants (ACCA) Corporate Reporting
Awards Panel. The Awards are the UK's leading and
longest established programme to recognise and reward
leading edge practice in corporate non-financial reporting.

Joss is also a judge of the Charities
Aid Foundation (CAF) Corporate Community Involvement
(CCI) Online Reporting Awards. The Awards are designed
to foster innovation, creativity and best practice
in the reporting of corporate community involvement
programmes on the Internet. The award recognises and
rewards companies that have worked hard to create
and maintain informative, attractive and engaging

Stakeholder Engagement
Joss Tantram is
Chair of the Guidance Working Group of the Royal Society
of Arts' (RSA) Forum on Citizens Technology and the
Marketplace and a member of the project's Steering
Group. The aim of the Forum is to tackle some of the
problems associated with the introduction of new science
into society and promote the flow of beneficial new
technologies by enabling companies to sharpen their
understanding of public concerns and engage with them
as part of their routine product development process.
